Two Postdoctoral Researcher Positions within the CyberGIS Center for Advanced Digital and Spatial Studies (CyberGIS Center) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, full-time, 100% (2-year duration, with possibility of extension, contingent upon funding)

Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will play key roles in research and education activities of one or more projects related to big data, cyberGIS, geographic information science (GIScience), spatial analysis and modeling, and social media  analytics. Specific responsibilities include: preparing peer-reviewed publications and education materials, participating in grant proposal writing, giving presentations at professional meetings, and providing consulting assistance for researchers and educators from various domains to conduct advanced digital and spatial studies.

Qualifications: Applicants should have received a recent Ph.D. in GIScience, computer science, geography, or a related field. Research experience in the areas of big data, cyberGIS, GIScience, spatial analysis and modeling, and social media analytics is desirable. Candidates will be considered if graduation with Ph.D. is expected by the target start date. The appointment will last for two years and may be renewed beyond that contingent upon availability of funding and performance.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and relevant research.

Start Date: As soon as possible after the closing date: May 1, 2014.
